A Long Afternoon Equals a Long Win!

(Toledo, Oh) The O'Reilly USA Modifieds motor on in to the Toledo Speedway for a Sunday afternoon racing program. Many of the O'Reilly drivers, fans, and officials were suffering from a racing hang over from the previous night at their local short tracks. The weather was picture perfect with a season high 35 cars packed in the Toledo Speedway pit area.

The afternoon saw Tim Burkett set quick time out the 34 cars that made a qualifying attempt. With the high gas prices the O'Reilly USA Modified Series made a business decision to skip the last chance race and start all 34 O'Reilly USA Modifieds in the feature race. The top 22 cars locked in through qualifying with the 23rd and 24th positions going to highest in points not locking in. The other 10 cars were given the option to start the race with getting tow money instead of start money or sitting out the race taking the tow money. The series wanted to give everyone a chance to race with ever rising of cost to get to the race track.

The 50 Lap Feature saw 33 cars take the green flag with pole sitters John Long and Brad Springer to his outside. O'Reilly USA Modifieds head starter Chicken Little waved the green flag with rumble of the 33 cars rocking the big half mile of the Toledo Speedway. John Long got the jump on Brad Springer on the start to take the lead down the back stretch on the first lap of the feature event. John Long got out to huge lead for the first 30 laps until the first yellow flag came out bunching up the field. The longer the race went the faster the Windy City Bag number 61 got and started to run down John Long in the final laps of the main event. On the last lap it looked like Brad Springer going into turn 4 was going make a last lap pass on the outside until he bobbled coming out of the last turn losing momentum giving John Long his first ever O'Reilly USA Mod Feature win. The Bruno's Pizza sponsored number 32 was followed to the line by Springer, Tim Burkett, Nick Diano, Scott Coe, Bud Perry, John Belott, Kyle Jones, Tony Dager, Cory Setser, Jeff Amsdell, Tom Jewell, Gregg Fullarton, Dan Frazier, and John Mamula rounding out the top 15 finishers.

The O'Reilly USA Mod Squad will be back in action this Saturday night at the Angola Motor Speedway for the FAYGO 100. There should be close to 40 O'Reilly USA Modifieds on hand to tackle the tricky paper clip 3/8 mile monster of Angola Motor Speedway. Please go to
