O’REILLY
ANDERSON WIN
TO ROOKIE
RABER
07.08.08…Anderson, IN…The O’Reilly USA Modified
Series roared into Anderson Speedway Saturday night for a big 50
Lap feature event. Twenty four of the best modifieds in the
Mid-west were on hand to try and conquer the famed quarter mile
high banks. Fans were treated to one of the best shows ever.
The evening started off with Cicero, Indiana’s Jeff Weston setting
fast time with a 12.788 lap. Tim Burkett started his evening off
by taking the Fast Car Dash and Ft. Wayne’s Corey Setser took the
Heat Race. With the preliminary races in the books, drivers and
crews were getting ready for the 50 Lap feature.
Ben Raber would start from the pole with Cory Setser out
side. Raber got the jump on Setser at the start of the race, to
lead the first lap. Raber, with Setser and Weston, on his back
bumper, were struggling with lapped traffic on the tight quarter
mile speedway. Just past midway on Lap 35, Raber, while trying
to lap traffic, bobbled and Setser made contact with Raber’s
rear bumper. The two cars locked together as they continued
around the Speedway at full speed. The yellow would fly 1 lap
later to un-lock the two, which took the help of a wrecker. With
Raber back on the point and a hard charging Setser and Weston in
tow, Raber would not look back as he won his first ever O’Reilly
USA Modified Series event. Raber was followed by Corey Setser,
Jeff Weston, Tim Burkett, and Kyle Jones rounding out the top
five.
The O’Reilly USA Modified Series next race is at the
Historic Winchester Speedway for “THE BIG ONE” July 20th
