Doug Meyer
wins at
Sandusky
Speedway
22 of the fastest asphalt modifieds showed
up Saturday to take on the half mile of Sandusky Speedway. After
qualifying was over, it was Jeriod Prince on top of the speed
chart, followed by Nick Diano, Jeff Amsdell, Bill Burba, Ali
Kern, and Doug Meyer, making the top 6. The dash was won by 16
year old Ali Kern in her second start with the O’Reilly USA
Modified Series in 2009. The 10 lap heat race was won by Scott
Tomasik, with Kyle Jones taking the checkered in the B main.
After the draw was done, it was Doug Meyer and Jeff Amsdell on
the front row. When the green flew, it was Doug Meyer jumping
into the lead with Jeff Amsdell giving chase. Contact was made
between the two front runners with Jeff Amsdell being sent to
the tail. The car on the move was Kyle Jones from his 18th
starting position. Also on the move was Jeff Amsdell, coming
from the back. Jeriod Prince was running second, and on lap 32,
he gained the lead. He would continue to hold on to the lead
with Meyer running second. Kyle Jones had worked his way to 5th
place, chasing down Scott Tomasik. Contact was made
ending the night for both drivers. Jeriod Prince would take the
checkered, followed by Doug Meyer. After a post race
inspection, Jeriod Prince’s car was found to not meet the tread
width specs., giving the win to Doug Meyer. The O’Reilly USA
Modified Series will be in action on Labor Day weekend at the
Winchester Speedway.
