2008 O’REILLY USA MODIFIED SERIES CHAMPION SCOTT COE 10.28.08…Ft. Wayne, IN… Someone once said, a philosopher, the Chinese or a person a lot smarter than me, “If at first you don’t succeed…. Then try, try, again! That saying, pretty much sums up our 2008 O’Reilly USA Modified Series Champion, Scott Coe and his Coe Motorsports crew. Having been on the Tour since 2000, Scott has endured what all racers have, wrecks, mechanical failures, and sometime just a lot of dumb luck. He has been all over the year end point charts but never number one. But…. every year they kept trying, “Climbing the mountain” as I always have said, to one day reach the top! This year, 2008, is Scott’s time on top the mountain, and rightfully so! Scott and crew have put together a great year, with three second place finishes, eleven top five finishes, and only three finishes out of the top five, while never seeing victory lane, Scott’s finishes were, for the most part, always in the hunt, because we all know that you cannot win from tenth. He never seemed to become rattled or distracted from his yearly goal of a championship. In speaking with him earlier this week he was quite modest, if there is a racer out there that can be called that. He had nothing but praise for his crew that has stuck with him over the years, Ron West, Henry Allen, Rich Deel, Jim Coe, Gary Crossgrove, and even new member Lyle Johnson. He told me “It’s not easy keeping a crew when your not running well, but these guys are great, they have stuck by me and helped build this team to what it is today” said Scott and I want to also thank Lyle Johnson for coming on board this year, he’s great to work with and was just the piece of the puzzle we were missing.” Scott will share his championship with his wife, Dawn and their two sons Austin, 9 and Colton, 1. There is one other person that I should probably mention and that’s Scott’s Public Relations Manager and Dad, Bob Coe, or better known as “Old Man Coe” and a few other things around the race track. Congratulations to Scott Coe and the whole Coe Motorsports Team on a Job well done. We will be proud to have you represent The O’Reilly USA Modified Series as our Champion for 2008!
